Newcomers wowed by Morrison's arm
So too are league stalwarts
Frommer not so awed: 'This makes me vomit,' he says
Saving one of his finest all-around performances for a Saturday of league newcomers, quarterback Blake Morrison put to rest any questions that he has aged out of elite status.
Tossing touchdowns like Brian Koss tosses his lunch after a Happy Hour, Morrison led a three-man Team A to a resounding 8-4 win over the foursome of Fearless Freddy Frommer, Krusty Ken Dilanian, and league newcomers Josh Balk and Jon Camp, who were cordial and compliant.
So impressive was Morrison's arm that he received this email later that day from Camp's roommate, whose identity will be protected so as not to get him in trouble with his boss, Wayne Pacelle. "Josh and Jon had a good time playing," wrote the man, who will be known only as P. Shapiro. "Said you're the best Q on the field."
Morrison made certain of that by also picking off a Frommer pass in the end zone. And to further insult Team B, Morrison punted a few times -- and punted far better than if Koss had punted with his opposite leg. "I was stunned," says Dave Brown, Morrison's teammate. "He really came to play, even though he only arrived a minute or two before kickoff and then took quite some time to warm up, stretch and put on his cleats."
Notably absent from the festivities: Robert Klemko, Wayne Pacelle, Aubrey Hanbicki, Brent Kruse, Koss, Mikey Paradiso, Brandon Carney, Will Miller and Sonny Singh, who vows to make his TFL season debut this Saturday.
